Daddy-Daughter Day

Fridays for me are daddy-daughter day. I usually do not work on Fridays and get to spend the entire day with my little one. She loves books almost as much as I do. Beginning today I will post a short review each Friday of her favorite books.

I have chosen Duck and Cover by Jackie Urbanovic for the first installment. This is a really fun book for both of us. The overall story revolves around a duck named Max. There are three books that feature Max the duck. In this story, an alligator named Harold come knocking at the door. He is on the run from the zoo detective. He thinks he has eaten a little girl's pet dog. After some fun situations trying to hide Harold, we find out that he actually ate the little girl's hot dog and not her pet dog.

Like I said before, this one is a lot of fun. There are several places where someone is knocking on a door and we both enjoy knocking on the book to illustrate this. There is also a lot of underlying diaglog with the various animals in the house. It is pretty funny. The story is a good introduction to helping people while being a fun read. I highly recommend this if you have young children.
