Yea for Friday. Time for another installment of Daddy Daughter Day. Today I bring you Backyardigans and the Beanstalk. If you have kids you are probably already well aware of the Backyardigans. If not, it is an animated series on Nick Jr. The cast consists of a moose named Tyrone, a penguin named Pablo, a kangaroo named Austin, a hippopotamus named Tasha, and a unique pink creature named Uniqua. In each episode, the friends pretend to have adventures in their back yards that eventually end with them going back to one of their houses for a snack. The episodes have many singing and dancing numbers to keep everyone interested. The book is set up the same way. In this adventure they are pretending the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. Tasha is a giant that is unhappy eating her mush. The others plant a garden for her. Upset that she did not thank them before taking a nap, they escape. Giant Tasha eventually catches up to them and apologizes for not thanking them.
This is a cute story and my daughter loves the characters from the show. While there is not the musical benefit with the book, you do still get the manners lesson as well as a fun adventure.
See you next time!
