Daddy Daughter Day: Bad Dog, Marley by John Grogan

Better late than never. It is almost Saturday at this point, but I am going to sneak in another installment of Daddy Daughter Day while there is still time. Today's book is a new one for us. My daughter received this one this week from her Gran and has been carrying it around in her tote bag ever since.

As you have probably guessed, this book is from author John Grogan of Marley and Me fame. Cassie and Baby Louie have two parakeets, three goldfish and four pet crickets. But they really want a dog. One day daddy surprises them with a box containing a puppy named Marley.

Marley starts out small but eats and grows into a huge dog. In true Marley fashion, he gets into trouble. A lot of trouble. He disrupts Cassie's tea party, eats cookies that were left out to cool, tears a pillow to shreds and my personal favorite, shows up with a giant pair of underwear in his mouth. Mom and Dad decide Marley has to go and run an ad in the paper to find Marley a new home.

Do not worry, there is a happy ending to this book. Marley helps save Baby Louie when he climbs on top of the refrigerator seeking a plate of cookies. Mom and Dad decide that Marley is at home with them as part of the family. A very good read with a happy ending.

Cute! I saw this book when I happened to walk by the children's section at barnes and noble and thought it was so cute they made a children's series out of Marley!
