Daddy Daughter Day: Five Little Monkeys

Thank goodness it is Friday! This has been one crazy week for me. But since it is finally Friday it is time for another installment of Daddy Daughter Day. Today I present to you Five Little Monkeys Sitting in a Tree by Eileen Christelow.

In this fun, quick read you follow a family of monkeys going on a picnic by the water. The five children climb out on a tree limb and commence teasing a crocodile: "Five little monkeys, sitting in a tree, tease Mr. Crocodile, Can't catch me!". The crocodile snaps his jaws shut and a monkey is missing each time.

Don't worry, the monkeys are ok. They are playing a trick on their mama and hiding. At the end they reveal themselves and their mothers hugs them all tight. Then scolds them for teasing a crocodile in the first place.

This is a cute book that is lots of fun to read. There are plenty of opportunities to work on counting as you read. There are several other books by Eileen Christelow featuring the five little monkeys.
