Another week gone and that brings up to Friday. Time for another Daddy Daughter Day. This week I bring you a fun book that my daughter carries around quite a bit and loves. What is a Princess? by Jennifer Liberts Weinberg and illustrated by Atelier Philippe Harchy is part of the Step into Reading series from Random House. This is the first book to feature multiple Disney Princesses in the same book. The illustrations are very pretty and will appeal to young girls. The cover features three princesses in yellow, blue, and pink dresses. My daughter likes to point to the pink one and say that is her. She is very sure in her favorite color being pink.
I like the message in this book. Yes, there are pretty princesses in pretty dresses. But, the book focuses on the character traits that make a princess. Belle is smart and caring. Jasmine is brave and Briar Rose is polite. The book appeals to girls because of the princess factor, all girls love to pretend to be a princess. This book shows that there is more to being a "princess".
Like I said earlier, my daughter likes to carry this one around with her. The book is starting to show some wear, but she still loves it. This is a great book to teach about colors and manners. I highly recommend this book for any little girls in your life.
