Happy Birthday Stephen King

I would like to wish one of my favorite authors, Stephen King, a happy birthday today. Stephen King was born in Portland, Maine in 1947. He earned a B.A. in English from the University of Maine at Orono in 1970. While there he wrote a weekly column for the school newspaper and met his future wife, Tabitha Spruce. King's first professional short story sale, The Glass Floor, was to Startling Mystery Stories in 1967. In 1973 Doubleday and Co. accepted his novel Carrie for publication. Since then he has written more than 40 novels and various other works of fiction. In 2003, Stephen King was the recipient of the National Book Foundation Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters.
