Review: The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown

Robert Langdon is back in his third adventure by author Dan Brown. Robert receives a call from his old friend, Peter Solomon, asking him to be a last minute speaker at an event being held at the U.S. Capitol. However, when Robert arrives ready to speak, there are only a few tourists milling around the room. That is, until a human hand is found in the building. That startling discovery leads to a mad dash of clues and mysteries. Langdon rushes to decrypt the ancient mystery of the Freemasons in an attempt to save an old friend.

This book is the ultimate fast paced, mega fix for suspense junkies. Dan Brown had me hooked from the very beginning and I was tearing through pages very quickly. The book is plot driven, very little character development. There is plenty of action interspersed among fascinating historical mysteries.

While I loved the suspense, I absolutely hated the ending of this book. I was so mad, maybe a little disappointed, at the end that I wanted to throw the book across the room. (I could never actually deface a book.) All of the suspense was wasted. I will not ruin the end for anyone who has not read it. But, I hate when a book keeps building and building suspense and then does not deliver at the end.

Overall a good read. I enjoyed the action and the mysteries presented. Hated the ending.

I'll be reading this anyway but that's disappointing about the ending. =/
