Daddy Daughter Day: Corduroy's Best Halloween Ever!

It is a special Friday. Tomorrow is Halloween and we are gearing up for trick or treating and a party tomorrow. In today's Daddy Daughter Day I will share one of our Halloween books, Corduroy's Best Halloween Ever based on the character created by Don Freeman and illustrated by Lisa McCue.

The book begins with Corduroy and his friends choosing pumpkins and then performing chores to prepare for their Halloween party. Next Corduroy has to decide on a costume. Rabbit is dressing up as a lion, Mouse as a pumpkin, and Dolly as a witch. Corduroy decides to create a dinosaur costume. At the party, Puppy's costume has a major malfunction and Corduroy gives him the dinosaur costume to wear.

The party continues while Corduroy tries to figure out what to do for a costume. They bob for apples, carve pumpkins and finally dance the monster mash. Finally Corduroy figures out a costume. He takes the stained table cloth and cuts out holes for eyes and a mouth. He then wears the table cloth and says that he is a ghost who has been to a Halloween party.

This is a fun book that does not have anything scary in it for the young ones. I know my daughter is excited about Halloween and this gives us something to read leading up to the big day.

We loved the Corduroy books when our son was young!
