Happy Birthday Pat Conroy

A Happy Birthday goes out to author Pat Conroy. I read my first novel by Conroy this year, South of Broad, and was blown away. His first novel, The Great Santini, was published in 1976. The main character was based on Pat's own father and caused some grief with his family. Pat Conroy is a graduate of the Citadel and this experience has formed the basis for two of his novels, The Lords of Discipline and My Losing Season. Earlier this year Pat was inducted into the South Carolina Hall of Fame.
