On July 15, 2009 the Crime Writers' Association announced the winners of four dagger awards. According to the CWA the dagger awards "celebrate the very best in crime and thriller writing, and are the longest established literary awards in the UK". Here are the winners:Dagger in the Library - Colin Cotterill
This award is given to "the author of crime fiction whose work is currently giving the greatest enjoyment to library users".
International Dagger - author Fred Vargas and translator Sian Reynolds for Chalk Circle Man
This dagger is awarded for crime, thriller, suspense novels or spy fiction which have been translated into English from their original language, for UK publication.
Short Story Dagger - Sean Chercover for One Serving of Bad Luck a short story in the collection Killer Year
To be eligible a crime short story must first be published in English in the UK in a publication that pays for contributions.
Debut Dagger - Catherine O'Keefe for The Pathologist
The Debut Dagger is open to anyone writing in the English language who has not yet had a novel published commercially.
