Daddy Daughter Day: No, David by David Shannon

It's Friday and that means another installment of Daddy Daughter Day. This one is another huge hit with my little one. We found out about this book when she was coming home from daycare saying "No, David". At first I assumed there was a kid named David that was always in trouble. But, the teacher finally told us about the book and it all fell into place.

This is not a wordy book. It is vibrant and brilliantly illustrated. It will catch your child's eye right away. Each page up until the end shows David getting into some form of mischief. He tracks dirt inside onto the carpet, he plays ball in the house resulting in a broken vase, or plays with his food at the dinner table. Each page is an opportunity to teach your child about manners and good behavior. Plus, they enjoy the process.

My favorite part about this book is that we never read it the same way each time. My three year old has memorized most of the written phrases on each page. But we always go into the content on the page in a different way. This makes it a lot more tolerable on a parent that has to read this book very frequently.

Even though David gets into a lot of trouble, the end of the book has David's mom telling him that she loves him. This one should be in your little one's library.
