Review: The Neighbor by Lisa Gardner

Sandra Jones simply disappeared one night, leaving her four year old daughter alone in the house while her husband was at work. The police look into Sandra's disappearance and compile a daunting list of suspects: the husband, her father, the sex offender living down the street, a middle school boy infatuated with his teacher, and her boyfriend on the side. The only problem is, they have no proof of any harm coming to Sandra. There is no body or evidence of her running off.

This book is a thrill ride from beginning to end. I was never bored, not for one single page. The story is told from different viewpoints throughout, the missing woman, the police detective, the husband, and even the sex offender down the road. The thing I liked most about this mystery is that it does not read like a police procedural. Sure the police viewpoint is there, but it does not consume the story. I loved experiencing the emotions and strife from the different suspects' point of view.

This was my first Lisa Gardner novel, but if the others are this exciting, I will be tearing through them very shortly.
